Extended Schools
At Woodberry Down, we have a broad Extended Schools offer, which includes a Breakfast Club and an array of After School Clubs. Our aim is to balance work and family commitments, whilst offering children a broad range of experiences and inspiring interests.
Breakfast Club
Our aim with our Breakfast Club is to provide a healthy breakfast followed by activities which engage all the pupils to ensure a positive start to their day. Our Breakfast Club is based on a first come, first served basis, and we operate a waiting list. Breakfast Club is open to all pupils from Reception to Year 6.
You will need to re-register for your child's place each academic year.
After School Activity Clubs
We have a good choice of clubs available for families to choose from each term. Clubs range from drama and dance to sports and photography. Children really enjoy the clubs; both for what the club is offering and for the social aspects.
We work closely with our providers to ensure children get the best possible experience each week delivered by committed and quality tutors and coaches. Where possible these tutors and coaches are also supported by existing Woodberry Down staff members.
Clubs run from 3.30pm until 4.45pm (unless stated otherwise). 3.30pm – 3.45pm is snack time; please provide your child with a light healthy snack. If your child attends a dance or sports-based club please do send them to school in their PE kit.
Summer Term 2 – Clubs can now be purchased (based on availability) for £21.00 – This will cover six sessions starting from week beginning 05.06.23 through until week beginning 10.07.23
These are the same clubs from Summer Term 1

PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB
Using specialised photography equipment (provided by our team of professionals), students will have the opportunity to capture and edit photographs by themselves, in pairs or in a group. Students often come away with greater creative confidence, improved team work (especially communication) and leadership skills. Some of the lessons we offer in the Photography Club include:
- Portrait
- Landscape
- Food photography
- Black and white
- Selective colour
- Perspective
- Mirror
Technical skills that students will develop include composition, framing and perspective. The unique structure of each lesson encourages children to be creative and playful and to look at the world in new and exciting ways. One of our most popular classes involves dress ups and role play. Another involves adventuring and exploring the playground and transforming and capturing everyday objects through a fantastical lens.
It is a joy to see our students engaging and sharing ideas in a judgement free environment.
We understand how invested you are in your child’s development, so we have created a secure Google Drive to allow you to be a part of the experience. Each week, the students’ work will be uploaded to the Google Drive. At the Photography Club, teaching is our passion. We encourage parents and teachers to contact us to discuss student’s progress, engagement and behaviour.
FOOTBALL YEAR 1 - 6
Football clubs are aimed at children of all abilities. The benefits of our football club are that it's a fun and social game that can boost your child's confidence, improve team work, learn new skills and meet new friends. We aim to help children improve on skills such as dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting, awareness, team work, decision-making and tricks to get past opponents. All football clubs are run by school-based coaches that I am sure you all know very well.

Hello, I’m Andrea I currently facilitate the arts n crafts after school classes at Woodberry Down School. The classes will build a strong foundation of skill and dexterity which will lead towards reaching a goal of creating a project of their own.
NON-CONTACT BOXING
We provide a safe and controlled environment for the children to learn not only the art of boxing but also to access the benefits that come with it. Coach Ash - a former pupil of Woodberry Down Community School, comes from a Boxing background and is currently a Level 3 Personal Trainer. He uses he’s experience in coaching juniors and professional skill to deliver and build a fun, interactive club.
The benefits of boxing:
- Increases motor skills such as balance, coordination, speed, agility and overall movement key to everyday living.
- Improves cardio level for a healthier heart and lungs.
- Provides a better self-defence.
- A form of controlled expression for the children.
Our Non-Contact Boxing requires a high level of respect from the children for the coach and each other, we practice listening, assisting and trusting one and other in each session which provides a newly found dimension of thoughtfulness and awareness amongst the group that can be used in everyday life.
GYMNASTICS
Spence of Excellence is a bespoke company which provides a range of sports for all Primary aged children of mixed abilities. The gymnastics club is run to aid and facilitate in the not only the children’s development in that sport but also socially.
Children will learn a range of new skills, as well as develop on those they already have in a safe, creative and expressive environment. There is a real focus around agility, balance and coordination, these skills will allow the children to excel in P.E and sports in general as they progress through their education.
MUSICAL THEATRE CLUB
We’d love to invite you to join the new KS2 Musical Theatre After-school Club this Summer Term! Expect songs and moves from popular hit musicals, cartoons and films: we’ll be working on drama, movement and voice through games and exercises which help develop performance skills, self-confidence and ability to work in a group towards a shared goal. All in a fun and engaging environment!
FENCING
Little Musketeers is an exciting club inspired by the Olympic sport of fencing. Our engaging and varied programmes appeal to a child’s sense of play and are taught in a fun, safe and educational environment. What child has not grown up pretending to be a swashbuckling pirate, a duelling musketeer, or even the master of swordplay himself, Zorro? Why do they do it? Because it’s fun!
Classes are designed and managed by Olympian and 4 time British Champion James Beevers. All our coaches are trained personally by James and hold enhanced DBS certificates. Little Musketeers are proud to be internationally endorsed by Olympians, educators and scientists from across the world. All equipment is either plastic or foam and gives children the real feel of fencing. All of our sessions will be run in accordance to the school’s Covid-19 regulations. Our equipment is sanitised before and after each session and where possible, children will be designated their own mask and sword for each session. Furthermore, we feel fencing is the perfect Covid-19 sport - you wear masks and, if anyone gets too close, you lunge!
TENNIS
We are so excited to re-establish our long-standing partnership with Finsbury Park Tennis. Finsbury Park Tennis will be delivering weekly tennis sessions throughout the Summer term. The sessions will be delivered by one of their experienced coaching team providing a mix of coaching and free play. Rackets and balls will be provided free to all participants. Children are taken to Finsbury Park at the end of the school day. Sessions are from 4pm – 5pm. We aim to arrive back at school by 5.15pm. Alternatively parents are free to collect children from the courts.
YOGA
We'd love to invite you to our Yoga after-school club this Summer Term! You can expect a fun yet informative session full of stretching, movement, stories and role-playing etc., all mixed with a healthy dose of relaxation, breathing and visualisation techniques along the way.
STREET DANCE
Dance and Arts provides exciting and engaging classes and activities for kids in primary and secondary schools all over London. We cover a variety of different styles, ensuring that all our courses and workshops are tailored to the needs of each individual student. In our Street Dance classes our students learn every week different stage techniques and steps, and through rhythm, games and impro activities - they work towards the realisations of a street dance routine to be performed at the end of the term. Our goal? Empowering our students with confidence and self-esteem, all while they have a lot of fun with their mates!
